Through the Wormhole With Morgan Freeman is ending its seven-season run on the Science Channel with an examination of gun violence.
The Hollywood Reporter debuts an exclusive clip from the episode, titled “Is Gun Crime a Virus?” It will air at 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 16.
The description reads: “Every 17 minutes in America, someone is killed with a gun. Politicians can’t seem to stop the violence. But epidemiologists, psychologists and big-data crunchers are discovering that gun crime spreads like a virus — and science may be able to stop its spread.”

Since its premiere in 2010, Through the Wormhole has been one of the network’s most popular series, tackling questions about the existence of God, the science of racism, life on other planets, the future of robots and more. Recent episodes explored whether humans can cheat death and whether it is possible to “hack the planet” to save humanity from storms, earthquakes, killer viruses and other threats.
