Russian network TV-3 has struck a deal to air The X-Files limited series next month, outbidding other channels in the country.
The X-Files revival’s first episode will air on TV-3 on Jan. 26, just two days after the U.S. premiere on Fox, the channel said.
The network’s spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that TV-3 is hoping to reach a deal with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to bring them to Moscow for a premiere.
Several other Russian networks were bidding for the right to air The X-Files revival, local trade Exhibitors’ Bulletin reported. TV-3 is Russia’s eighth-largest free-to-air network and mostly focuses on mystery and sci-fi series and movies.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
In the summer of 2014, TV-3 aired all nine seasons of the original The X-Files series, which first screened on Channel One and REN-TV in Russia.
