FXX’s You’re the Worst is adding a new friend for its central gang.
Cougar Town alum Collette Wolfe has joined the second-year comedy created by Stephen Falk, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
On the comedy about two truly terrible people who find love and acceptance from each other — and their equally amusing pals — Wolfe will recur as Dorothy Durwood, a cute and spunky improv teacher who introduces Edgar (Desmin Borges) to the world of comedy. The “always-on” Vine star struggles with her comedy career after seeing many of her peers go off to do bigger and better things. Positive and unflappable, Dorothy meshes surprisingly well with the caustic and embittered personalities of Jimmy (Chris Geere), Gretchen (Aya Cash) and Lindsay (Kether Donohue).

Wolfe becomes the latest new face to join the cult comedy’s sophomore season, which will move from FX to FXX and return in the fall. She joins The Office‘s Andy Buckley who will guest star as Jimmy’s agent in an episode. Wolfe will first appear in the episode titled “We Can Do Better Than This,” though an airdate has not yet been determined.
The casting marks a reunion for Falk with Wolfe, who previously starred on the former’s ill-fated NBC comedy Next Caller. Her credits also include DirecTV’s Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight as well as episodes of Mad Men and The Office. She’s repped by Gersh, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Tyerman.
You’re the Worst returns in the fall on FXX. If you’re in Austin, be sure to check out the FX Comedy Night panels featuring You’re the Worst, Married and more at the ATX Festival on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the State Theater. THR will be on site and moderating the YTW panel and have the scoop on season two coming tonight.
