David Tutera threw yet another CELEBration in Hollywood on Friday night — this time to fete the launch of Zendaya’s shoe line Daya. Held at Hollywood’s Raleigh Studios, the party was filmed for Tutera’s WE TV show and saw tons of Zendaya’s Disney cohorts (Jesse actress Skai Jackson and K.C. Undercover co-star Veronica Dunne) and her stylist and shoe line co-creator Law Roach in attendance, as well as Tutera himself, of course.
“The focus is all about the shoes. We put the shoes in picture frames to elevate them to pieces of art in a way,” said Tutera of the evening’s theme. “A lot of black and white, very chic, a glossy black dance floor with ‘Daya‘ in white script, for example. And she really wanted it to feel like a boutique, so we hung some beautiful chandeliers as well.”

Zendaya’s latest shoe venture is in response to her fans, who also asked for a lower-priced version of her fabulous footwear creations. “I tweeted about it and I heard from my fans, they wanted it lower and I was, like, ‘We gotta do this, let’s bring the price down,'” she said. True to her word, the line ranges from $69 to 109 for D’orsay flats, stilettos and booties in lace, ombre and metallics. (It was originally going to retail from $200 to $300.)
The shoe designer, who debuted a short blond pixie cut, wore her ‘Angus’ black-lace stiletto back-zip bootie for the event because it’s “super cute, super dope in a picture — they have to make your feet look good! So important!”

After stepping out for the Golden Globes recently, the rising star is looking forward to the possibility of attending more award shows in her future — though Zendaya admits she often doesn’t know until literally days before if she’s going or not. On her wish list this year are the Grammy Awards. “The Grammys would be my ultimate awards show to go to,” she shared. “I have so many friends nominated and so many people I look up to going.”
When she headed into the venue Friday night, where she was greeted by cheers, Zendaya took the mic and emphasized her love for footwear, declaring, “I wanted these shoes to be accessible and affordable for everyone to wear — there’s something for everyone in the line.”
