Zooey Deschanel has received an apology from the company that incorrectly identified the actress as the suspected bomber in last week’s Boston Marathon bombings.
During a Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas area news broadcast covering the manhunt for the suspected bomber, a caption on the Fox affiliate read: “Marathon Bomber. He is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel.”
The captioning company Caption Solutions, which is based out of Lawrence, Kan., issued an apology for the error on Tuesday. The apology expresses grief from the captioner, and the company’s president Kayla J. Patterson said they “sincerely apologize” for the incident.
The bombing suspect was actually Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who has since been captured and hospitalized. The age was correct, however, as Tsarnaev is actually 19.
