The words “new girl” now have new meaning.
New Girl star Zooey Deschanel and husband Jacob Pechenik have welcomed a baby girl, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. This is the first child for Deschanel, 35, and producer Pechenik, 42.
The couple’s marriage had not been reported previously in the media. They announced the pregnancy in January, and they confirmed their engagement a week later.
Deschanel, who has had roles in such films as Elf (2003), (500) Days of Summer (2009) and the forthcoming Bill Murray comedy Rock the Kasbah, finalized her divorce from Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard in December 2012.
